The Math Album by Hip Hop Headucatorz

What is The Math Album?

The Math Album by Hip Hop Headucatorz is a multi-media production that teachers can use to engage their students in the four basic operations of mathematics. There are seven songs that teach the concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as the importance of learning how numbers work together. Each song is accompanied with a music video to bring the lyrics to life. The teacher resource book is chopped full of ready-to-use activities for the classroom with worksheets that can be photocopied for students. The activities vary in difficulty and are designed by teachers for students in Grades 1-6.

Why Rap Music?

Rap music is one of the biggest juggernauts of our time. Its influence is found in almost every aspect of popular culture. Many students listen to rap music daily and identify with it as a style and way of life. Bringing this part of youth culture into the classroom can be quite beneficial. The Headucatorz have seen it work with their own students.
