The Bodega Brovas Rampage Music Video (The Birth of Rap: A Look Back and Forward)

The Bodega Brovas are a classic, golden era hip-hop group focusing primarily on hip-hop music from the 1980s, 1990s, and the early to mid-2000s.

In this music video The Bodega Brovas group play homage to the hip hop era that raised them. Hip-hop is a genre of music most often characterized by a strong, rhythmic beat and a rapping vocal track. The genre originated in New York City in the 1970s as a cultural exchange among Black, Latino, and Caribbean youth and has grown into one of the most consumed genres of music. Many depicted the genre, style and times as a period of violent and uncontrollable behavior. Was it really?

The Rampage video represents modern day remix of hip-hop elements that are considered to be its pillars: deejaying, or “turntabling”; rapping, also known as “MCing” (emceeing) or “rhyming”; graffiti painting, also known as “graf” or “writing”; and break dancing, or “B-boying,”.

We honorably say “Thank You” to the founders, legends and brovas of the Hip Hop Culture we love.
