BRING THE CROWN HOME

This is a project dedicated to path of knowledge, wisdom and understanding in a crazy world. Many themes are touched upon in this project. MAKANGANI talks about race issues, mental health, sociopolitical views, activism, identity and so much more … always looking through his own camera lens to give a very poetic perspective on life from his individual angle.

This album is also an attempt at a conversation with artists and beat makers who disregard the roots of African and African American music, totally ready to unconsciously abuse the art by sampling our fore-mothers and forefathers with not even a pinch of remembrance or respect and yet call it ‘real hiphop’.

I am an activist and an artist, not a purist, don’t get it twisted – i am also just human and not perfect or speaking down on anybody from above. I simply LOVE art, HIPHOP and conscious expression and I would love to connect with those ready to talk and heal.
