Assalti Frontali were born in 1991 from the ashes of the Roman musical collective Onda Rossa Posse (ORP), which arose in the late 1980s within the Roman radio station Radio Onda Rossa. On June 15, 1990 they released the minialbum Batti il tuo tempo, the group’s first record release and one of the very first hip hop records sung in Italian. Despite the self-production and independent distribution, especially in social centers and in “situations of movement”, the album achieves great success and sells about ten thousand copies, causing the so-called posse phenomenon to explode in Italy. Between 1991 and 1993, two groups were born from the experience of the Onda Rossa Posse: AK47 and Assalti Frontali.
