Label co-founders Joey Deez & Doug (Remulak) had long discussed the concept of creating a compilation album in order to showcase the wide rage of styles that comprise the imprint's
eclectic output.

In May of this year, the pair decided that the time had come to put their vision into action and began planning the compilation to be ready to celebrate the label's fifth anniversary in December 2020. Sadly, just weeks after the decision had been made, Joey Deez unexpectedly passed away. This compilation represents the last of the project that Joey had planned, and was curated and executed with his tastes firmly in mind.

The 21-tracks of the double vinyl release feature label favourites such as Funkonami, Aver & Move 78, Robohands, and Mr. Thing & Micall Parknsun, as well as label affiliates Evil Ed, Omas, and FTHMLSS, plus a fitting debut release from one of Joey's best friends: Meridian Fold.

The album artwork also features the reworked label logo, which serves to mark a new chapter in Village Live's existence. The gatefold vinyl artwork - lovingly illustrated by long-time label
collaborator, Dan Birkbeck - features all the people associated the label and the compilation in a colourful dreamscape, that is also available as a limited edition A2 poster.

The surprise announcement of the compilation, along with the vinyl and merchandise pre-orders, will be followed by a 20-day digital advent calendar, where a new track from the compilation is released every twenty-four hours. This run will feature videos from Gas-Lab, Cutterz & Evabee, Cappo & Remulak, and Kuartz.

Sly Moon’s long-awaited debut album answers many questions about one of the most elusive characters in British hip-hop - and poses some questions about him, too.

Like, how can someone already be considered a veteran of underground rap prior to the release of their debut solo record?
Well, being one of the members of the original Children of The Damned line up is how.

Sly Moon’s rare rhymes have been revered since appearing on group projects from Blah Records since 2006. To truly understand the cult heroic nature of the casino dwelling rapper, timeless tracks like Sly Moon Funk and Money On Tap featuring Eliza Doolittle are good starting points.

Sporadic features on Cult of The Damed’s two albums in as many years have been cherished by fans, who have long wondered: what does a solo project from the enigmatic Sly Moon sound like?
The record uses no samples, with production largely handled by Sohio Players, the instrumental mastery of both Sly and Blah head honcho, Salar.

Beats are more than just infused with elements of funk, with bass guitar riffs largely leading the spacey soundscape created. Melodic hooks will catch some Blah followers off guard, as once again the label continues to push the boat out further and further from traditional hip-hop.
Cold Sagging Every Day was uploaded online as a single in 2018. Since then, the mysterious artist has rarely been seen, citing that to his habit of spending weeks at poker tables and only revealing himself when the moon is full.

‘Hmmm… just that, it’s a journey through the moon craters?’ is what Sly Moon came up with when asked to describe the project, letting the most recently released single, video and title track speak for the album itself.

Village Live Records are proud to present 'Time & Tide', the new album by Mancunian poet and emcee, D'Lyfa Reilly.

The 12-track album is entirely produced by Village Live artist Aver and is the last release to be overseen by the label's
co-founder Joey Deez, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

D'Lyfa burst onto the UK hip-hop scene in 2011 aged 19. After releasing a slew of mix tapes and videos he gained
notoriety across the UK, most notably being featured on BBC Introducing and Charlie Sloth's 1xtra national radio shows.

It was during this period that D'Lyfa befriended fellow Mancunian hip-hop producer Aver. The two had a shared vision
of an alternative, no-nonsense approach to music and worked together for years on a number of projects that never saw
official release. 'Time & Tide' is a combination of reworked tracks from this era and new music the pair created in 2019.

The album will be available on limited edition 12" vinyl in two colour ways: standard black, and the other an
aquatic-themed transparent blue with white swirl.
The digital version of the album, along with the instrumentals will also be available to stream/buy
when 'Time & Tide' is fully released at the start of 2021.
